P3 Playground for Syrian Refugee Mercy Corps Appeal

At special Assemblies with Mercy Corps on Thursday 1st October, P3 pupils will tell the school about their Harvest project to help Syrian refugees.

The P3 Communications Group met on Wednesday and this is how they explained the project in their own words:

Primary Three are trying to raise money for Mercy Corps to help Syrian children who are refugees. There is a war in Syria and lots of people have lost their homes. Refugees are people who are trying to find a safe place to live. We are lucky to have lots of things to play with in our playground. We want to help children in refugee camps. We want to give them their own playground. A playground costs £300.

We have decorated envelopes and everyone will get one. Please put some money in your envelope and bring it back to school. We will collect the envelopes from the classes. Everyone in P3 has a different job to do. Some people are envelope collectors, some people are money counters and some people are going to talk at Assembly to tell everyone about our project.
Thank you from The P3 Communications Team

Look out for more information from the team!

Autumn

Autumn is upon us and Miss Gallagher is looking for some autumn inspired art, photos, drawings, leaves and anything else you can find to create a display in class. Please bring in your creations and findings into class.

Farm visit

What a wonderful time we had on our farm visit last week. P3a went to Whitmuir organic farm in West Linton. We had great fun learning about chickens, pigs and we dug up lots of potatoes. Read our recounts for more information.

Vegetables galore!

Wow, what a colourful surprise Miss Gallagher got this morning when Ollie came into class with a basket full of amazing fruit and veg from his allotment. The boys share a plot at their local allotment and were so proud of their crop. Miss Gallagher was very impressed!

Wheat

We are learning about Food and Farming. Last week we were learning about food that comes from plants and which part of the plant the food comes from! We all got the chance to feel the wheat and pull out the grains. We loved doing this despite it being rather fiddly (and messy)!

3 superstars

Well done to the boys for receiving a trophy for their commitment to the cricket team.

Problem solving in p3a

We worked with a partner to do so me problem solving. It was tricky but we used our thinking brains to work it out together!
