Running success for Catie and Andrew!

We were delighted to hear about Catie and Andrews sporting success at the weekend. Both took part in the junior run as part of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival and Catie was 19th overall out of a total 394 runners! She was the 2nd girl to cross the line and we are all very proud of her in P4b. Great effort from Andrew too, who came in 20th place. Fantastic effort from both of you!

The P4b Book Group

For the final part of p4, reading will be set up in a slightly different way. This morning, everyone enjoyed the opportunity to choose which reading book they wanted from a selection in the classroom. Once everyone had made their choice, pupils got themselves into their new groups and had to set themselves their reading homework for the week. I was very impressed with everyone's communication and enthusiasm today. There were lots of ideas for additional reading homework tasks too! Keep up the positive attitudes guys.

Golden Time Fun!

Thank you to Alexandra for brining these Conical hats, all the way from Vietnam! Some of the girls have spent their Golden Time decorating them in bright colours. We will need to find a good use for them in our classroom!

Fidget Spinner Maths

We put our fidget spinners to good use this week in P4b. We challenged ourselves to try to complete as many maths questions as we could before the spinners stopped spinning. Some of us loved the challenge, others found it a bit stressful! Either way I was really impressed with everyone's efforts. Now remember to put those fidget spinners back in your trays!

Food Focus

Following on from our mental health awareness week we are focusing on healthy eating and taking care of our bodies this week. We are thinking about the positive impact exercise can have. We have also been learning about healthy foods and understanding nutritional labels on packaging. We even created our own healthy snack bar brands and packages.

We have also been learning how to prepare food safely and hygenically in the kitchen. Have a look at the pictures of us making tasty cheese scones.

Relax Kids

We were lucky enough to have a visit from Mrs Anderson this afternoon in P4b. She did a fantastic relaxation session with us as an end to Mental Health Awareness Week. We learned loads, and after a very busy day we all felt super chilled out at the end. Thank you again Mrs Anderson, we would like to borrow you every week!

Fun during Playtime

Hannako and Alexandra were keen to get a picture of them having fun at playtime today. They have been getting creative with the loose parts materials and created a little area perfect for a picnic. Glad to see you enjoying your break
time ladies!

Creating Coordinates

We had fun in the sun yesterday creating coordinates grids in the playground using chalk. We then had to read and record the coordinates of another group. Everyone showed a good understanding, well done 4b!

Wild About Scotland

We enjoyed a visit from some of the Wild About Scotland team on Tuesday. They told us all about the endangered wild cats of Scotland. We were surprised to find out there are only 100 left in the world and they all live in Scotland. Have a look at what we got up to.
